On behalf of the HBCU-Center for Excellence we are pleased to announce that Morehouse School of Medicine has received a Notice of Award from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) to continue as the Historically Black Colleges and Universities-Center for Excellence (HBCU-CFE) in Behavioral Health Workforce Capacity Expansion Sub-Award Program.
The purpose of this program is to promote opportunities for HBCU institutions to foster behavioral health careers through internships; to expand knowledge of culturally appropriate, evidence-based and emerging best practices; to expand screening and referral services for students at risk for behavioral health disorders; and to support educational activities around behavioral health and prevention strategies. HBCUs on the “White House Initiative” list are eligible to apply for the Behavioral Health Capacity Expansion Sub-Award (Mini-Grant). We look forward to working with all accredited Historically Black Colleges and Universities to promote student behavioral health, workforce development and student retention. Again, attached is the Request for Application (RFA) 2017-2018.
All HBCUs eligible to apply for the Behavioral Health Capacity Expansion Mini-Grant Program are invited to participate in Technical Assistance Webinar. The goal of the webinar is to review criteria for completing the RFA.
The sub-award/mini-grant submission deadline is September 28st 2017 (5pm).
